Susan Murray supports EU-UK customs union

Families and businesses in Mid Dunbartonshire are feeling the negative effects of Brexit in terms of investment, growth, and funding for public services. 

 The Chancellor will present her Spring Statement amid some of the most difficult economic circumstances imaginable, made worse and more difficult by Brexit.

 An official analysis of the economic benefits of a UK-EU customs union is a crucial first step towards boosting our economy and rebuilding our relationship with Europe, which is why Liberal Democrats are calling for it to be included in the Spring Statement. 

Mid Dunbartonshire voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU in 2016 and we value the importance of working across borders to address common concerns, a customs union with the EU would be very welcome in our community.
