Commenting on the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) reporting that small businesses confidence is at its lowest since 2020, Mid Dunbartonshire MP and former businesswoman, Susan Murray, said:

"Business confidence is crucial for firms to recruit, expand, invest, develop products, and enter new markets; that it is so low in Scotland is deeply worrying.

Mid Dunbartonshire has lots of brilliant small businesses, providing goods and services to our community and local jobs. The recent increase in national insurance makes it even harder to grow.

Confidence in Scotland’s small businesses has not been this low since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time that put firms in Mid Dunbartonshire and across Scotland at risk.

Both of Scotland’s governments must work with small businesses, and organisations like the Federation of Small Businesses, to restore the confidence of our business community and get the economy back on its feet.”
