Susan Murray Mail - Public Transport and Scottish Affairs Select Committee
A local update from your Liberal Democrat MP for Mid Dunbartonshire, Susan Murray. On this week's update, campaigning for improved local public transform and being elected to the Scottish Affairs Select Committee.
CAMPAIGNING FOR BETTER LOCAL PUBLIC TRANSPORT
I've written to the Scottish Government's Cabinet Secretary for Transport to highlight the need for essential improvements to public transport in Mid Dunbartonshire. Our community needs reliable buses and trains to help us get to work, school, and study and I'll keep working to deliver them.
SURGERY UPDATE
It was great to hold my latest drop-in surgery at Sainsbury's in Kirkintilloch. Meeting with constituents and hearing their concerns and the issues I can help them with is the best part of my job.
SCOTTISH AFFAIRS SELECT COMMITTEE
This week, I was delighted to be elected to sit on the Scottish Affairs Select Committee. I'm looking forward to working on our important issues and helping communities, including Mid Dunbartonshire, across Scotland. I'm very grateful also to my fellow MPs for putting their trust in me.
OUR CHILDREN OUR FUTURE
It was great to meet with and support the Children's Food Campaign. I very much enjoyed hearing from parents who are working hard to ensure that children's food is nourishing, healthy, and fun.
HEAT PUMPS
Heat pumps have a key role to play in keeping us warm sustainably. I was glad to meet with the Heat Pump Association (HPA) at Westminster and to see a heat pump in action.
WARMWORKS
I very much enjoyed meeting with Warmworks in Parliament to hear about how they bring warmth to homes and communities. I look forward to sharing more information about how to save on energy bills with my constituents. If you want to find out more, drop me an email.
LOCAL HEAT AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY STRATEGY AND DELIVERY PLAN
East Dunbartonshire Council has launched a consultation on its proposed Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES) and Delivery Plan which aims to support Scotland’s statutory targets for fuel poverty reduction and reaching net zero emissions.
The LHEES consultation runs from Tuesday 1 October to Tuesday 29 October 2024 and participants are being asked to read the proposals then please complete this short survey.
HEADSTONES AND MEMORIAL SAFETY INSPECTION
I welcome East Dunbartonshire Council's programme of headstone and memorial safety inspection.
Over the next four years, the council will examine East Dunbartonshire's 11 graveyards, totalling 18,000 headstones, to ensure local people can visit their loved ones' resting places safely.
GRITTING AND ROADS
The weather is getting colder and measures are being taken in East Dunbartonshire to keep us all safe when the winter conditions arrive.
Crews from the local council are now on call 24/7 and you can get up-to-the-minute information on gritting at the link here. A form to report issues is also available there.
