Scottish Government ministers must use their upcoming visit to Kirkintilloch to listen to the concerns of people in East Dunbartonshire, local MP Susan Murray has said.

First Minister John Swinney and his team will meet in Kirkintilloch Town Hall on 24 March, with a public discussion scheduled to be on the agenda.

Susan has called on ministers to use the chance to listen to the real issues impacting the local communities, including local health care provision, schools, and support for small and medium-sized businesses.

If the cabinet fails to do this, it will lose further credibility with a community that already feels neglected by the government in Edinburgh, she has warned.

If the Scottish Government can focus properly on these important local matters, Susan is committed to working with them to deliver the results that the people across Mid Dunbartonshire, want and deserve.

Susan Murray MP said:

“Meeting in East Dunbartonshire is an opportunity for Scottish Ministers to see first hand the vibrant, welcoming, and supportive community we have here.

This is also their chance to listen to our concerns, including to our calls for improved health and care facilities, school buildings, and support for local business.

However, if ministers neglect to engage with these vital issues, they will find that the trust our community has in them, which is already damaged significantly, will continue to erode.”
