Marthos Christoforou
The community champion fighting for Kirkintilloch and Twechar
Kirkintilloch East & North and Twechar By-Election - 13th February 2025
Standing Up For Local Services
Our SNP/Labour run council is cutting budgets and removing much needed local services.
They've cut the number of bin collections, and even removed lolipop people from outside some of our schools.
We need a councillor who will stand up for Kirkintilloch and Twechar. Marthos will fight to make sure we protect basic services here.
Improving Local School Buildings
The Lib Dems started work to upgrade local schools and replace Lenzie Academy when it ran the Council. The SNP and Labour have delayed this work.
Our children deserve the best possible environments to learn in, and don't deserve more disappointing delays.
Marthos wants to see a proper consultation on where to put the site of Lenzie Academy and urgent repairs to other schools in the ward.
Working to improve local road safety
As a parent with children who go to school in Kirkintilloch, Marthos was shocked by the SNP/Labour council's decision to cut some vacant school crossing patroller posts and review the future of others.
Children's road safety is vitally important, and crossing patrollers play an important part of that: we can't afford to lose them.
Marthos will treat road safety as a top priority, working with communities to secure improvements, and opposing any cuts.
On Thursday 13th February, voters have a clear choice at this by-election. They can send the SNP and Labour a message that they want a candidate in Marthos who will stand up for our area and fight to protect local services.
