A local update from your Liberal Democrat MP for Mid Dunbartonshire, Susan Murray. On this week's update, drawing Parliament's attention to the lack of palliative care and other health services and a number of weekly updates.

Heat Pump Webinar

I enjoyed hosting our community webinar on heat pumps.

Heat pumps can be a great choice for those looking to reduce their bills and make a conscious effort against climate change.

If you want more details about installing heat pumps, or you missed the webinar, please email me at Susan.murray.mp@parliament and my team will send you a link to view the recording of the webinar and more information including where to apply for grant funding.

Health and Care in Mid Dunbartonshire

I spoke in the House of Commons this week, drawing Parliament's attention to the lack of palliative care and other health services in Mid Dunbartonshire.

Our community needs a new health and care centre in Milngavie and Bearsden, to alleviate pressure on hospitals by treating people closer to home. My petition calling for the new centre is here, please consider signing it.

WASPI Women

I was proud to stand up in a Westminster Hall debate on behalf of the 6,650 of us in Mid Dunbartonshire who are WASPI women. I'm not just fighting because this impacts me, the decision is a deep injustice that the UK Government must fix.

My Lib Dem colleagues and I will continue to fight for the WASPI women, to make sure they get what they deserve.

The Middle East

I welcome the news of the ceasefire in the Middle East. Anything that goes to stop the death and suffering should be appreciated. However, the hard work must continue to achieve a long-lasting peace.

Hear about the Lib Dems' priorities which Layla Moran expressed so well in Parliament this week here.

Hugh's Law

I was pleased to attend the Hugh's Law event in Parliament where I got to hear directly from families affected by childhood cancer.

Hugh's Law will create a safety net for families should they ever find themselves in this situation, allowing them to turn their full attention to their child's wellbeing.

Safer Consumption Rooms

The drug death crisis is Scotland’s national tragedy and any ideas that could improve the dire situation should be considered.

Scotland's first drug consumption room which has just opened up in Glasgow, is an interesting but controversial idea; we should reserve judgement until we see what impact it has.

I hope it makes a difference, and we can start bringing down the dreadfully high number of drug deaths in the city.

LOCAL PLANNING CONSULTATIONS

Views are being sought on a range of planning issues including the historic environment, housing and developer contributions for schools.
