INTERVIEW ON EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE SCHOOLS

Thank you to That's TV for the opportunity to discuss the problems facing school buildings in East Dunbartonshire.

The situation is urgent and action is needed to fix it. Teachers and others are doing everything they can to deliver the best education possible.

My job as your MP is to push the UK Government to make sure the Scottish Government has the capital funding it needs to provide the excellent school buildings our pupils, families, and school employees deserve.

You can watch the interview on That's TV's social media here

DROP IN SURGERY

Holding surgeries allows me to talk with local people and to find out how I can help with the things they care about as your MP.

It was great to meet with constituents at my recent surgeries and I'm looking forward to holding more throughout this Parliament.

SUPPORTING THE RSPCA's #KINDSPARK FIREWORKS CAMPAIGN

It's coming up for fireworks season, which can be difficult for our pets and farm animals.

I'm supporting the RSPCA calling on the nation to make one change and be a #KindSpark this firework season. They recently conducted some research ahead of this year's fireworks season.

This research discovered that 55% of pet and livestock owners dread this time of year because of the impact that fireworks have on their animals.

WESTMINSTER HALL DEBATE ON SCOTLAND'S ECONOMY

In a Westminster Hall debate on Scotland's economy this week, I spoke about how vital small businesses are to Scotland.

I was particularly happy to bring up the importance of small and medium-sized businesses in Mid Dunbartonshire. SMEs are essential to economic growth. They provide jobs and opportunities for local people and I'll always stand up for them.

POPPY SCOTLAND 2024 RECEPTION

The 2024 Poppy Scotland campaign held a reception in Parliament that I was proud to attend to hear about the great work they're doing on important issues across the country .

Poppy Scotland isn’t just about remembrance, they also do a lot of work supporting veterans in places like Mid Dunbartonshire and around Scotland.

CLIMATE AND NATURE BILL

Mid Dunbartonshire is a beautiful part of the world that we're lucky to live in. I believe it's our responsibility to keep it in good condition for future generations.

As such, I'm proud to support the Climate and Nature Bill that has been supported by 245 MPs and Peers, including my colleague Daisy Cooper.

DEATH OF ALEX SALMOND

I was sorry to hear of the death of former First Minister Alex Salmond. I associate myself with the words of my colleague Christine Jardine and send my thoughts and best wishes to Mr Salmond's family and friends.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Alex Salmond's passing. A towering figure in Scottish politics, his talent was undeniable. We may never have agreed politically but I did enjoy our jousts, in journalism and in politics. My thoughts are with his family.

Christine Jardine MP
