LETTER TO SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT ON SCOTRAIL
I've written to the Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Transport raising concerns that many of you have raised with me about our railways.
Mid Dunbartonshire residents deserve reliable, frequent, and high-quality rail services and I will work with all stakeholders to deliver it.
KNIT FOR PEACE
It was great to meet with the ladies from Knit for Peace to hear about the great work they're doing for amazing causes.
They were busy knitting and crocheting some useful hats, blankets, jumpers and other items to keep vulnerable people warm in difficult circumstances.
BALIJAFFRAY PRIMARY WINS UNICEF UK GOLD AWARD
Huge congratulations to the pupils, families, and staff of Balijaffray Primary School on winning UNICEF UK's Rights Respecting School programme Gold Award.
The award is given for demonstrating a deep and thorough commitment to children's rights at all levels of school life. Well done to everyone involved!
MEETING WITH LORD STEEL
As a new MP, I'm keen to learn from those with experience.
That's why it was a pleasure to meet with former Liberal Democrat MP Lord David Steel on my recent visit to the Borders.
David was in the House of Commons for 32 years and latterly served in the House of Lords as a peer.
I'm grateful to him for his advice and his service.
LIBERAL DEMOCRAT FEDERAL CONFERENCE
It was great to meet up with so many old and new colleagues at the Liberal Democrat federal conference in Brighton. Especially following the general election which brought us an amazing 72 MPs.
It was also a pleasure to meet with the many brilliant causes and groups at the fringe events and to hear about the great work they're doing throughout the UK.
WINTER ENERGY EVENT
East Dunbartonshire Citizens Advice Bureau and Home Energy Scotland are holding an event in Auchinairn for people to find out what support is available to help keep your home warm on a budget.
As we get closer to winter, many people may be worried about rising fuel bills.
Both CAB and Home Energy Scotland will be on hand to share information on energy saving, how to control costs during the colder weather and to give advice on the help available.
The drop- in will be held at Auchinairn Community Centre on Wednesday 9 October from 1.15pm – 2.45pm.
