DOMESTIC FUEL PRICE CAP
The price cap for domestic fuel is set to rise by 10% from October this year. I'm joining with Liberal Democrat colleagues in expressing concern about this, particularly in terms of people having enough time to adjust.
For an average household paying by direct debit for dual fuel this equates to £1,717 per year, adding around £12 a month to an average bill.
This comes as the winter fuel payment has been scrapped by the Government for those who do not receive pension credit. Many people who are eligible for pension credit do not claim it.
You can find out if you are eligible here. I’m very concerned about the impact of axing the winter fuel payment and will be raising this with the Government when Parliament returns
