A local update from your Liberal Democrat MP for Mid Dunbartonshire, Susan Murray. It has been just over a month since Susan was elected at the new Member of Parliament for Mid Dunbartonshire so gives an update to what she has been doing.

ONE MONTH IN

It's been just over one month since you elected me to to be your Member of Parliament for Mid Dunbartonshire.

It's been an incredibly busy month, setting up my office, tackling casework, and working on the issues that matter to you.

EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE BIN STRIKES

Some of you will be concerned by the news that GMB Union have informed East Dunbartonshire Council of their intention to strike from 05:00am on Wednesday 14 August until 04:59am on Thursday 22nd August.

Serious disruptions are expected to refuse and recycling services during this time. The Council is asking the community to share the information with those who might not have access to the internet.

East Dunbartonshire Council has also created an information webpage containing details of the industrial action and links to support and advice.

UPDATE 13TH AUGUST: Strike action planned has been suspended following a revised pay offer that is being consulted with union members

VISIT TO THE HIVE IN LENNOXTOWN

It was brilliant to visit The Hive in Lennoxtown to hear about the great support they're receiving from the local community.

Thank you to all the volunteers and club members for having me and for all you do to improve well-being and reduce social isolation in our area. You are our community heroes!

EXAM RESULTS

Students across Mid Dunbartonshire received their SQA exam results this week.

If you got what you wanted, congratulations. If it didn't go to plan, there is help and advice available through the SQA website.

WASPI WOMEN

While I believe pension equalisation was the right thing to do, the way it was done was wrong.

This week, I was proud to reaffirm my support for the WASPI women in their call for fairness and justice. I support them and you can find out how you can here: https://www.waspi.co.uk

WINTER FUEL PAYMENT

Everyone in Mid Dunbartonshire deserves a warm home in winter, and our elderly neighbours need it more than most.

That’s why I’ve called on the Chancellor to ensure that the tough decisions she makes do not mean our older people face a cold winter without the support provided by the winter fuel payment.
